EAGLES VIEW BNB

A LITTLE ABOUT US

Beauty can be found everywhere

Perched on the edge of the Kloof Gorge and Krantzkloof Nature Reserve four-star Eagles View Bed and Breakfast serves up views from your bedroom window that will make your heart skip a beat.

Sweep open the French doors of your room and you may be lucky enough to see one, or even a pair of Krantzkloof’s resident Crowned Eagles soar past you almost close enough to reach out and touch.

At the end of the day sit out on the deck and relax with your favorite drink, looking down on the cascading Kloof Falls waterfall during the rainfall months. Indulge in a late afternoon dip in our large and well-maintained swimming pool and watch the sunset turn the rock of the gorge to shades of pink as flocks of ungainly hornbills wend their awkward way home to their roosts.

1000 Hills Brewing Company

Established in 2009 (as Porcupine Quill Brewing Company), the brewery forms part of 1000 Hills Chef School where Advanced Students learn the art of Craft Beer Brewing. This brings a unique approach to brewing – with flavour and food in mind. In true craft tradition, we prefer not to follow any particular style too closely but rather experiment with our own styles. Most of our beers follow a pale ale style. This particular style covers a range of flavours and appearances and suits how we brew our beers. Beers are generally rated according to colour (SRM) and a measure of alcohol (ABV). Another key factor is flavour or bitterness, but this is of course quite subjective and varies significantly by adding different hops during the brewing process. What you are tasting are the oils from the female flower of the hop vine, which provide bitterness, aroma and taste, depending on when they are put in the kettle in the brewing process.

Ushaka Marine World

The world class uShaka Marine World, situated in Durban, South Africa, opened its turnstiles to the general public on April 30th 2004. Ushaka has fast positioned itself as a key attraction on Durban’s Golden Mile, offering a world of entertainment, excitement, fun and uniqueness. uShaka has brought together cultures, like no other place in Africa – into a safe, secure and clean environment that resonates the sound of fun, laughter and the spirit of togetherness. Entertainment is non-stop, extending from the daytime operations of Sea World, Wet ‘n Wild, and uShaka Beach, to the night time festivities of the Village Walk.

PheZulu Safari Park

PHEZULU SAFARI PARK is an exciting tourism venue, situated in Botha’s Hill, only 35 km’s from central Durban. This picturesque park has magnificent views of the world-famous Valley of a 1000 Hills. At Phezulu village, the world famous Gasa clan has over the last 30 years, allowed visitors to Phezulu the opportunity to savour the taste and feel the rhythm of Africa. Visitors are taken into traditional beehive shaped thatched huts, where the various artifacts, beliefs and rituals are explained, giving foreigners an insight into the fascinating Zulu culture. The Zulu dancing show is impressive with the dancers in their traditional garb, showing off their skills with grace, agility and humour- a truly unforgettable experience! Take park in Zulu spear and shield making.

The Umgeni Steam Train

The organisation is run entirely by volunteers and is self-funding, relying almost exclusively on revenue generated from running public and charter trains to continue operating and preserving our railway history. Over the years Umgeni Steam Railway has managed to collect a sizeable array of historically significant rolling stock and other items, including approximately 10 locomotives; 50 coaches and a variety of goods wagons. Unfortunately due to ongoing financial constraints many of these irreplaceable items remain in storage awaiting preservation. Trains run through the picturesque Valley of a Thousand Hills between Kloof and Inchanga on the last Sunday of each month, with additional trains during school holidays and for special events, such as Christmas Holiday trains in December. At Inchanga the local Conservancy hosts the Inchanga Community Craft Market whenever the Inchanga Choo Choo runs.
